Alerts from condition monitoring or control systems are only useful if someone acts on them, and when they arrive as emails or dashboard warnings they are easy to miss or ignore. The step from alert to work order is often manual, which is where alerts get lost.
The better approach is to define which alerts should create a work order automatically, with the equipment, the alert details and a suggested priority filled in. Some alerts need a person to review them first to avoid flooding the maintenance team with low value work orders, so setting those rules carefully matters as much as the automation.
