When inspection results are tracked at the shipment level, one failed item can hold up everything else, since there is no clean way to release part of the shipment while keeping the rest on hold. That creates delays for equipment that is perfectly fine.

Tracking inspection status at the item level solves this, so a failed item can be quarantined on its own while the rest of the shipment moves on to storage or installation. The quarantined item then gets its own follow up, whether that is a repair, a return or a replacement, without affecting anything else.
