New hires need more than the steps, since they also need to understand why each step matters, what the equipment looks like and where things are on the site. Procedures written for experienced operators often skip all of that, which is why new hires end up relying on whoever is nearby.

Adding context to the procedure, like photos of the equipment, short explanations of critical steps and links to the location on the site model, makes it a learning tool as well as an instruction. Experienced operators can skip past the context, while new hires get the extra help they need during their first months.
