When a regulation changes today, someone usually has to search through the procedure library by hand to find what is affected, which is slow and easy to get wrong. The result is often that procedures get updated at the next scheduled review rather than when the change actually takes effect.

If regulations are already mapped to the procedures they apply to, a change to a regulation can automatically flag the affected procedures and the specific steps involved. The procedure owner then gets a review task with the change attached, which turns regulatory updates into part of the normal review process instead of a separate project.
